Crothers is now offering those who wish to receive a newsletter via e-mail the opportunity
to do so in an effort to save the Region the costs of mailing this monthly. Currently the
Region spends over $200 monthly in postage, if you have e-mail please consider receiving
your newsletter electronically at no costs to the Region.

Region 1 will not be holding Board
Meetings for the months of August, September, October, November and December. These will
be replaced with a monthly REGION MEETING that will be held on Sundays, the first will be
Sunday August 10, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Manfred’s Lounge, Sunset Boulevard,
Steubenville, Ohio
2008 is an election year and as such
every county we represent should have a “Meet the Candidates” event. In the past
these events have had excellent turnout in Jefferson County with candidates for all
positions showing up to meet the voters. Every county rep. should now be planning their
counties meet the candidates’ event. If you want to hold such an event and are
uncertain of what to do contact Ken Perkins and I will guide you through the event-this is
great P.R. for our organization.
Speaking of elections the ABATE region
election of officers is just around the corner and for 2009 we have several key positions
that are VACANT - Kenny Kourim will not be director in 2009 - Suzanne Kresser will not be
treasurer in 2009. BOTH OF THESE ARE VITAL POSITIONS TO THIS ORGANIZATION, we must have
these filled to survive. Another vital position is open and that is the position of the
Swap Meet Coordinator, Ken Perkins will not be organizing the 2009 event and we need
someone to take this over no later than September 2008 or the event will be cancelled.

Saturday August 16, 2008 - “Bike Night at the Jefferson County Fair” gates open
to Motorcycles at 4:00 p.m., Rodeo begins at 6:00 p.m. Once again this year we are a
feature act at the Grandstand area: skills games, bike show, commemorative pin to the
first 500 motorcyclists through the gate, free vendor spots for new parts & biker
merchandise vendors. COME OUT AND SHOW JEFFERSON COUNTY THAT WE ARE TRULY ENTERTAINING AND

Lite Bike Nite” at the Hillsboro Grill- Mingo Junction, Ohio”. Fun begins at
6:00 p.m. with Miller Lite giveaways, BBQ, Buckets and Bikes, Paved Lot & Outdoor
Deck. Do not miss out on the areas only Bike Night hosted by Bikers and members of ABATE.

4.) August 29-31, 2008
-“Liberty Weekend at the Hopedale American Legion Grounds” - Camping, food, fun,
bands, vendors, biker games, skills competition and more at the grounds. This is a
